Ian Gay graduated with a BA in Economics and English Literature from Macquarie University in Sydney.
During his 45-year tenure with Qantas, he held many senior roles including sales, marketing, commercial planning, passenger systems, pricing and revenue management, and alliances. Mr Gay also worked overseas, holding regional management roles in New Zealand and South East Asia. In 2000, Mr Gay was appointed regional general manager of Western Australia and Northern Territory. He was back in Singapore as regional general manager of Asia before leaving the company.
Mr Gay is a member of the General Council of the West Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and an advisory board member of the School of Business Management at Curtin Business School.
