Ian Ball has more than 30 years of international experience in consulting and professional services leadership within the fields of financial services, technology, innovation and Federal government. Mr Ball is a senior executive who has held leadership roles in companies including IBM and Ernst and Young (EY). Starting his career as a consultant for Bain & Company, he then moved on to become one of the founding members of a boutique consulting company, Kalchas, in the UK and subsequently in North America. This company was bought by CSC where he stayed on as head of the strategy consulting practice in North America until 2000. His next move was to lead the consulting practice for Mainspring, which subsequently executed an IPO and was acquired by IBM in 2001. He held a variety of roles including financial services strategy and operations practice leader in New York, Asia Pacific sector leader for financial services based in Shanghai, and managing partner for Australia and New Zealand for their global business services division based in Sydney. In 2008, Mr Ball joined Silver Lake, the technology-focused private equity firm as value creation leader for Europe and was based in London before returning to Australia at the end of 2009 where he then joined EY as a leader in the advisory business and subsequently became chief operating officer for advisory across Asia Pacific. In 2012, Mr Ball became the markets leader and deputy chief executive for the whole EY firm in Oceania where he had responsibility for designing and implementing the firm's 2020 strategy across nine offices and two countries. After retiring from EY in late 2016, he established his own consulting practice.
