Professor Iain Murray AM is a distinguished researcher who has made remarkable achievements in the world of technology accessibility and the benefits it provides to members of the low vision community.

Prof Murray has been a John Curtin Distinguished Professor at Curtin University's School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences. He has been at Curtin University since November 1998.

Prof Murray founded the Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired in 2002 to deliver ICT training to vision impaired people globally. He has supervised over 20 research students’ completions, and published in excess of 110 peer reviewed articles in the fields of IoT, engineering education and assistive technology. His work on Curtin’s Internet of Things MicroMasters program has been instrumental in its success. In June 2021, Prof Murray was appointed by Curtin University as a Cisco interim co-chair of the Curtin-Cisco Centre for Networks.

In 2016, Prof Murray was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to people who are blind or have low vision and to education in the field of assistive technology as an academic and researcher.
