Hugh O'Sullivan
For over 20 years, Hugh O'Sullivan has acted for many of Australia’s major property, liability and construction and engineering insurers. He also has a solid foundation in property law, gained while practising in Victoria for several years. His expertise includes claims involving construction, engineering, property loss under contractor all risk, ISR, property and business interruption policies, D&O and home warranties. Mr O'Sullivan has a comprehensive knowledge of the law of negligence, the Australian Consumer Law and corresponding state provisions, breach of statutory duty, contract and insurance law, Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (particularly sections 21 and 54), and nuisance. He has provided advice on policy construction, assisted with claims management with a focus on settlement, and conducted litigation on behalf of the insured through to trial and on to appeal. Mr O'Sullivan has expertise as counsel, honed by appearances in the District Court in property and liability claims and at Coronial Inquests in occupational safety and health prosecutions.
