Prior to his appointment as regional executive director of the Midwest region at the Department of Education in 2014, Greg Thorne was the principal advisor supporting implementation of the student-centred funding model. His teaching and leadership experience includes head of mathematics and principal of primary, district high and secondary schools. He has a Master of Educational Management.
