Graeme Haggart
Graeme Haggart was appointed to the newly created position as director of community development in July 2005, having held the role of acting director of development and community services from January 2004 where he oversaw a review of the Directorate that has resulted in an emphasis on helping the community to meet identified needs and aspirations. Mr Haggart commenced employment with the Town of Bassendean in November 2000 as the Town's manager of leisure services and in a short period of time, he planned and delivered the January 2001 Centenary Concert. He subsequently managed the conducting of the hugely successful 2001 Centenary of Local Government Celebrations and public events programme. Mr Haggart has a diverse range of experience and a background in community development, recreation and sports administration, culture and the arts administration, community services management and executive management in local government. He has held various senior managerial positions in local government in a career spanning more than 20 years. Mr Haggart has undergraduate qualifications in Psychology and Human Geography, and a graduate qualification in Leisure Services. Additionally, he has been president of an important regional non-profit organisation in the southwest metropolitan area that provides a diverse range of community services and has developed community service organisations to meet defined needs within the region.
