Glenn Baker
Glenn Baker OAM was a foundation member of the House of Life Group that commenced in 1985 with the express goal of raising funds for developing an accommodation facility for families having children with cancer. In 5 years, the group raised just under $1m. As the values of Ronald McDonald House Charities ran in parallel with those of the House of Life Group, a joint venture was the obvious way forward. Ronald McDonald House Perth was completed in November 1990. Mr Baker held executive positions on committees for both the House of Life and Ronald McDonald House Perth. He was a McDonald’s Licensee for 15 years prior to his retirement in 2008. He remains very active in other community programmes and runs a small hobby business. In 2020, Mr Baler was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to children through charitable organisations.
