Fred Robertson

Fred Robertson is the executive chair of Brimstone Investment Corporation, a company which he co-founded in 1995. He was non-executive chair of Lion of Africa Insurance Company, Lion of Africa Life Assurance Company, Sea Harvest, Novus Holdings, and House of Monatic. He also serves as non-executive director of Remgro, Aon Re Africa, Old Mutual Emerging Markets, and Swiss Re South Africa. Mr Robertson’s trusteeships and patronages include chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Western Cape Foundation; interim chair of the Jakes Gerwel Foundation; Member of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Entrepreneurship Advisory Board; Trustee of the Masizizane Fund; Patron to the South African Academy for Young Leaders; and Patron to the Youth Unemployment Peoples Project. Mr Robertson received the CNBC AFRICA All Africa Business Leadership Awards (AABLA) Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2014. In April 2016, he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy by the University of the Western Cape.
