Frank Calabria was appointed managing director and chief executive of Origin Energy in October 2016, and is a member of the health, safety and environment committee. Mr Calabria first joined Origin as chief financial officer in November 2001 and was appointed chief executive, Energy Markets in March 2009 where he was responsible for the integrated business within Australia including retailing and trading of natural gas, electricity and LPG, power generation, solar and emerging business. Mr Calabria is chair of the Australian Energy Council (AEC) and director of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). Prior to joining Origin, Mr Calabria worked at Pioneer International, Hanson, and Hutchison Telecommunications. He has a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and a Master of Business Administration (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management. Mr Calabria is also a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
