Dr Edward Petch is a consultant forensic psychiatrist at Hakea Prison, and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia.
Dr Petch was trained in medicine at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, and in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital in the UK. He has qualifications in medicine, neuroanatomy, psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, criminology, business administration and corporate governance.
Dr Petch spent 10 years as a consultant forensic psychiatrist in the UK for West London Mental Health NHS Trust at a Medium Secure Unit and at Broadmoor (maximum secure) Hospital. In 2009, he became director of the State Forensic Mental Health Service in Western Australia, and returned to clinical work as a consultant forensic psychiatrist in 2018.
