David Smith
David Smith graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Law degree in 1990.

He was admitted and enrolled as a Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1991.

In 1995, he joined Piggott, Wood and Baker and has worked exclusively in the field of family law since that time. Mr Smith was made a partner of Piggott, Wood and Baker in 1998, becoming managing partner shortly thereafter and remaining there until moving to Western Australia to join O'Sullivan Davies in 2010.

As a family law practitioner, Mr Smith is an Accredited Family Law Specialist, a collaborative law practitioner and accredited under national mediator accreditation system – AIFLAM. He has extensive experience in all facets of family law including property, children, relocation, child welfare, child support, bankruptcy, asset protection. His experience in these fields range from assisting clients reach agreement through negotiated settlements where possible, through to representing them as counsel in various forums including State Magistrates Courts, Tribunals, Supreme Court, Federal Magistrates Courts, Family Courts throughout Australia at first instance and on Appeal before the Full Court of the Family Court.

Mr Smith is also chair of Awesome Arts, a contemporary arts organisation for young people and their Families in Western Australia. He is a volunteer at the Fremantle Community Legal Centre and a member of the Football West Appeals Tribunal.
