David McLean

David McLean has been with Westpac since February 1999 and has worked in its New York and Auckland offices. He became chief executive of New Zealand in June 2014 before retiring in June 2021.

Prior to that, he had established the New Zealand branch of Deutsche Bank and was New Zealand resident branch manager. In 1988, Mr McLean joined Southpac/National Bank as a capital markets executive. He was also a lawyer in private practice and served as in-house counsel for NatWest NZ.
