After completing the Army Apprentices School in Victoria in 1975, David Christie became a data encryption specialist and was deployed in top secret installations throughout the eastern states of Australia, working on “Cold War” equipment as an electronics engineer and cypher specialist. At the completion of his contracted nine years, Mr Christie worked for several years at the Queensland Department of Transport on the repair, maintenance and installation of lighthouses from the Torres Strait through to NSW. He was also a communications engineer for AAP Reuters.
Mr Christie established David Christie & Associates in 1991 which also trades as CareerCafe in 2006.
He was a founding member of the AIIA (Australian Information Industries Association), spent a decade on the board of the Education and Training Convenor, and founded the Education and Training Skills Forum for WA.
In 2005, Mr Christie became a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants Australia. In 2006, he was presented with the Australian Defence Medal for Military Service.
