Colin West commenced working with the State Electricity Commission (now Western Power) as a clerical assistant and studied accountancy at WAIT (now Curtin Uni). His interest in education & sport led him to enrolling at Mt Lawley Teachers College to study primary teaching, majoring in physical education. Upon graduating from MLTC he taught in Bunbury for 15 years, completing a Bachelor of Education, before taking up a role as South West Football Development Officer. Moving to Perth in 1994, Mr West became junior development manager with the WA Football Commission before going on to more senior roles as State AFL Auskick manager and general manager of football development. In 2012, he was appointed state manager of AFL SportsReady, traineeship & apprenticeships, before moving to his current position as schools manager for The Fathering Project in November 2014 where he assists fathers and father figures to form “Champion” Dads’ Groups in WA schools. These important groups make it easy and fun for Dads and their children to be involved in enjoyable and social activities.
