Clare Huppatz is a senior public health physician with extensive regional, national and international experience.
She was appointed Western Australian chief health officer in 2026.
Prior to taking on the CHO role, Dr Huppatz has worked extensively in regional Australia and joined the Department of Health in 2019.
She established and ran the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre and was recognised for her management during COVID with a national Public Service Medal.
Dr Huppatz holds qualifications in General Practice, Public Health, Health Promotion, and Epidemiology, and is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.
