CHRIS Finn started working as a surveyor in underground gold mines in 1999 and didn’t take long to impress his managers, who recognised his enthusiasm, strong work ethic, high quality of work and ability to handle a high level of responsibility under pressure. In 2003, Mr Finn took on the role of senior surveyor half a world away, on the Heathrow Terminal 5 Project, the largest construction site in the Northern Hemisphere at the time. He started his own business in 2006, and PSS Group is now a leading firm in precision surveying consultancy for oil and gas producers, mining companies, petrochemical enterprises, land and property developers, civil engineers and construction companies. Mr Finn was working as a sole trader when he established PSS, subcontracting through another survey company. The company now employs 30 staff and has a number of major clients in the resources and commercial construction industries. He is studying business management at Curtin University and is keen to see how the training will further his business success. Mr Finn is three-time Australian frisbee champion and president of the Australian Disc Golf Association. Since 2009, PSS has installed five permanent frisbee golf courses across Australia, teaching thousands of children in metro, rural and remote Aboriginal communities how to play the sport.
