Brian van Rooyen

South Africa-based Brian van Rooyen spent most of his early career working in a wide variety of technical and senior managerial roles within the primary steel and stainless steel industries.

He has extensive experience in new business development, project development and general management of operations.

From 1997, he pursued a career in strategy and new business development with Kumba Resources. In 2006, he joined Exxaro, a mining company listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange and served as a director of several subsidiaries in South Africa and abroad. Mr van Rooyen was also responsible for the acquisition and development of the Mayoko iron ore project in the Republic of Congo until 2013.
