Professor Brent McInnes has over 33 years of international experience in the geoscience and resources research sector. He has led multiple public-private research partnerships with companies including Australian Scientific Instruments, Barrick, BHP-Billiton, Chevron, INCO, Rio Tinto, PetroChina and Sinopec.
Prof McInnes is a Research Professor in Economic Geology & Geochemistry at Curtin University, director of the John De Laeter Centre in Perth, and a co-founder and chair of Peak Oil PNG - a private startup within the resources sector.
Prior to his time at Curtin, he was a chief research scientist in the division of earth sciences and resource engineering at CSIRO.
Prof McInnes was awarded the 2018 Paul G Dunn Award for Research Development, the 2008 CSIRO National Service from Science Award, the 2007 Fulbright Coral Sea Fellowship at NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre, and the 2003 CSIRO Chairman’s Gold Medal for Research Excellence.
