Barry Carbon was the longest serving chair and chief executive of the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority. He received a centenary medal for services to government, and in 2008 was presented the medal for the International Association of Impact Assessment. Mr Carbon’s experience includes being chair of the WA Waste Authority; chief executive of the Ministry for the Environment, New Zealand; director general at the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage; director general of the Queensland Environment Protection Agency; executive director of EPA, Commonwealth of Australia; supervising scientist of Alligator Rivers Region; chair and Commonwealth representative of the National Environment Protection Council Committee. He served on the Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia as chair from 1985 to 1993 including as chief executive from 1986 to 1993.
