Barrie Van der Merwe is an experienced chief financial officer, change catalyst and change leader. He has over 20 years of experience in the resources sector, having worked across a range of countries including Australia, South Africa, and Botswana.

Mr Van der Merwe became the chief financial officer of Evolution Mining in March 2023. Prior to that, he was the vice president of group finance at Orica, chief financial officer and executive director at Lonmin, chief financial officer of Debswana Diamond Company, and held a range of senior finance roles within Anglo American Platinum.

Mr Van der Merwe holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours.
