Andrew Harding

Andrew Harding was appointed chief executive of Rio Tinto's extensive Iron Ore product group in February 2013, accountable for operations and projects in Australia, Canada and India and for Rio Tinto Marine. Mr Harding also has Rio Tinto Executive Committee responsibility for China, Japan and Korea. He had previously spent three years as chief executive of the Rio Tinto Copper product group, with responsibility for a range of operations and projects around the world, including development of the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine in Mongolia. His career has also included being president and chief executive officer at Rio Tinto's Kennecott Utah Copper in Salt Lake City. Mr Harding holds an MBA from Deakin University and a Bachelor of Mining Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales. He departed Rio on July 1 2016, as part of an executive reshuffle announced by incoming Rio chief executive Jean-Sebastien Jacques.
