Alira Kelly is a proud Yamatji woman from Nhanda country, approximately 40 kilometres north of Geraldton. She has a passion for community development and supporting Aboriginal communities, and an extensive background working with youth in the justice system and in child protection.
Ms Kelly also has considerable experience working in government and non-government roles, including in ACCOs as a frontline worker, cultural convenor, and training facilitator.
Ms Kelly was the senior executive officer at the Langford Aboriginal Association prior to being appointed to the newly created role as director of Aboriginal strategy and capacity building at Communicare in March 2023. She will be tasked with leading Communicare’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation and enhancing the way the organisation works alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to create a fairer Australia. She will also be leading the organisation's support for an Indigenous Voice to Parliament, which provides the Federal Government with an opportunity to make policies with First Nations People.
