Agu Kantsler joined the Board of Savcor Group on 1 September 2011 and went to Savcor following a long career at Woodside Energy. Pior to his retirement in 2010, he was executive vice president of health, safety and security. And prior to that, he was executive vice president of exploration and new ventures where he had responsibility for Woodside’s worldwide exploration, business development and geotechnical activities. Mr Kantsler was also responsible for occupational health, safety and security at Woodside from early 2009 until his retirement, being accountable for the safety of more than 16000 field construction workers and 1000 Woodside employees at eight major onshore and offshore production facilities. Mr Kantsler was a director of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) between 1996 and 2010 and chair of APPEA from mid-2000 to October 2002. He was a founding member of the Australian Government’s Council for Australian Arab Relations until 2009, and member of the Energy White Paper High Level Consultative Group from 2008 to 2010. Mr Kantsler remains an Adjunct Professor of Geophysics at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. In 2006, he was elected to the Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. He is an independent director of Oil Search and a board member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Western Australia.
