Adam Tomison
Adam Tomison is an experienced public service executive who has worked with government, non-government organisations and advocacy groups within Australia and overseas on a range of strategic crime, community services and health issues. He is internationally recognised as an expert in the field of child abuse and other family violence, and the development and operation of child protection and family support systems.

Mr Tomison was appointed to the substantive position of director general in August 2017, having been acting in the position from July 2017. He stepped down from the role in December 2023. Prior to that, Mr Tomison had relocated to Perth in late 2016 when he was appointed director general at the WA Department of the Attorney General, after a successful six-year term as director and chief executive of the Australian Institute of Criminology. He had also spent four years in various senior roles at the Northern Territory Department of Health and Families including as director of NT family and children’s services.
