Woody Island is located 15 kilometres South-East of Esperance in the Recherche Archipelago (commonly referred to as "The Bay of Isles") and is one of the 105 named islands.
The island itself is a 240 hectare A-Class Nature Reserve vested in the Conservation Commission of Western Australia and managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation.
Esperance Island Cruises leases 5.77 hectares which has been developed for the purpose of Eco Tourism and includes Woody Island Ecostays.
