PayNow for Stripe is a minimalist point of sales app, allowing users to accept credit card payments quickly and easily on any mobile device. NFC (near field communication) is used to enable PayPass payments without any need for a swipe card reader.
It fills a gap for Stripe users, providing a way to take POS payments without any infrastructure (no need for EFTPOS terminal, swipe card reader etc).
The app was updated in July 2016 to use the Stripe Connect platform, enabling the company to take a 10-cent transaction fee on each charge made using the app, and providing insight into how the app is used.
Its volume passed the $1 million sales mark within a month of launch.
