The Mackerel Islands in Western Australia’s northwest Pilbara Coastal region are situated 22km offshore from the town of Onslow, 1,400km north of Perth. Accommodation is available on Thevenard Island and Direction Island. Thevenard Island is a Nature Reserve and as well as providing accommodation for holidaymakers. The Mackerel Islands can be accessed through Exmouth or through Karratha and Onslow.
In March 2020, Mackerel Islands (through its newly created subsidiary Karijini Adventures) takes over the management of Karijini Eco Retreat which was built by Gumala Enterprises in 2007.
