Kingstream Steel failed with an ambitious plan to mine iron ore in WA's Mid West region, produce steel at a proposed plant near Geraldton and ship it from a new port at Oakajee. When it failed in 2003 it became Midwest Corporation and was later taken over by China's Sinosteel.
