Venus Metals is set to ramp up exploration at its Bellchambers Gold project this week. The company is about to kick-off a detailed program of geophysics across the project area and it has also pegged additional acreage in the region after identifying new targets northwest of the existing tenure.
The Bellchambers gold project is located in Western Australia’s Murchison Province approximately 10 km east of the Sandstone gold mining centre and 95 km northeast of Venus’s high-profile Youanmi gold project.
Bellchambers is off to a flying start with a 340,000-tonne resource already in place grading 1.5 grams per tonne gold at the main Bellchambers deposit.
Venus said the ongoing exploration program is designed to identify additional Bellchambers style targets across the ‘Western Ridge Gold Trend’ north of the main deposit. Detailed heliborne electromagnetics will extend the previous airborne EM programs and cover over 12 km of strike.
Venus’s highly successful technical team continues to play a key role in the success of the company with Dr Fop Vanderhor being commissioned to manage the exploration program at Bellchambers. Dr Vanderhor was pivotal in the identification and development of United Minerals Corporation’s Railway Iron Ore deposit in the Pilbara, which was sold to BHP in 2009 for over $200 million.
Venus is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to fast-tracking the Bellchambers project and it is already in negotiations with nearby producer, Adaman Resources. Venus is discussing the option of mining the Bellchambers gold deposit and treating it at Adaman’s Kirkalocka Mill, located approximately 165 km southwest of Bellchambers - samples have been provided to Adaman for metallurgical test work.
Venus is clearly looking to capitalise on its expertise gained at Youanmi and to extend its influence in the Murchison region with a view to making Bellchambers a ‘second string’ to its already impressive discoveries at Youanmi.
