Gold explorer, BMG Resources is set to start the new year with a bang after securing a rig for a 12,000 metre drilling blitz at its high-grade Abercromby gold project near Wiluna in Western Australia. The aircore drilling will test a series of newly identified structural targets near its high-grade Capitol prospect where recent RC drilling hit a sensational 26m going 6.07 grams per tonne gold.
Other recent strikes from an ongoing 6,000m RC campaign at Capitol include 37m grading 2.58 g/t gold from 144m, 12m at 7.02 g/t gold from 80m and 56m going 1.51 g/t gold from 132m.
BMG says a newly concluded sub-audio magnetic, or “SAM” survey across the southern part of its Abercromby tenure has lit up numerous new structural gold targets akin to Capitol and the nearby Capitol North prospect.
Capitol and Capitol North combine for a target area covering about 1km by 300m.
According to the company, about 80 per cent of the Abercromby tenure has now been covered by SAM surveying.
The geophysical technique is often used to develop a better structural understanding of ore deposits by detecting conductive signatures that could represent structural trends.
Management says the survey has now identified several structural settings that it will look to target in the upcoming aircore drilling campaign.
Some 4km south of Capitol, the drill bit will tackle the Barrack prospect where limited historical drilling returned two significant intercepts of 2m grading 2.3 g/t gold from 60m and 2m at 1.32 g/t gold from 62m, lying about 140m apart.
At the Archer prospect, 1km south-east of Barrack, the drilling will also follow-up on a solid 4.2m strike going 8.61 g/t gold from 110.8m.

This, in combination with the completion of our 6,000m RC and diamond drilling campaign at Abercromby over the coming weeks, sets BMG up to enter 2022 with strong exploration momentum and we look forward to updating the market once details of our 12,000 drill program are finalised.”
BMG’s 100 per cent owned Abercromby is situated on the renowned Wiluna greenstone belt where more than 40 million ounces of gold have been defined since the metal was first discovered in the region.
The company has so far confirmed two gold-bearing lodes at the project, both located at Capitol. Historical hits at the prospect include a stunning 57.5m strike going 5.73 g/t gold from 80m and another 30m intercept grading 10.01 g/t gold from 164m.
BMG could be heading for a big year in 2022 if its regional gold hunt at Abercromby can deliver anything like the bumper grade gold already thrown up at Capitol.
