Indiana Resources has served up numerous “stunning” gold hits at the exciting Minos discovery at its 100 per cent owned Central Gawler Craton project in South Australia. One broad 21m intercept returned 8.43 grams per tonne gold from 176m, including a bumper grade 1m interval going 159 g/t gold. The company is looking to table a maiden resource estimate for Minos.
Other eye-catching hits from the latest drilling include 23m at 6.44 g/t gold from 186m with a 1m interval at 118 g/t gold, 10m at 8.33 g/t gold from just 39m and 2m at 18.4 g/t gold from 162m.
The “sensational” assays at Minos come on the back of a reverse circulation campaign designed to infill and test the extent of a known mineralised zone along the Lake Labyrinth Shear Zone.
All 16 holes were drilled to depths between 90m and 252m with the latest results adding to previous stellar intercepts including 38m at 6.54 g/t gold from 29m, 5m at 24.35 g/t from 106m and 3m at 18.33 g/t gold from 189m.
Indiana’s Executive Chairman Bronwyn Barnes said:“Minos continues to reveal itself as an exceptional gold target and these stunning high-grade intersections and broad widths of mineralisation confirm the results from our most recent RC drilling programme. Minos remains open along strike and at depth, so we believe there is still plenty of scope to grow our high-grade footprint at Minos as we move closer to establishing a maiden JORC resource.”
Indiana now plans to evaluate all recent and historical drilling data with the goal of generating a resource estimate for Minos.
Information from a current three-hole diamond drilling program at the prospect will also be utilised in the proposed estimate.
Minos is said to be one of several drill-ready targets along the Lake Labyrinth Shear Zone that stretches for 30km within Indiana’s landholdings.
The company recently commenced air-core drilling along the shear zone to test for extensions of Minos to the north-west and south-east.
Intriguingly, to the south-east lies the Ariadne prospect where previous drilling returned solid intercepts including 6m going 4.05 g/t and 11m at 2.44 g/t gold.
Management says it is seeking regulatory approvals to further expand its exploration efforts in the Central Gawler Craton project.
The project tenure takes in a whopping 5,090 square kilometres and lies in the vicinity of established gold deposits in the region.
The 965,000-ounce Tunkillia project adjoins the southern edges of Indiana’s acreage, whilst to the north lies the historical Tarcoola mining hub where about 93,000 ounces of gold have been defined.
Both projects are owned by ASX-listed Barton Gold.
Barton is also working on the Challenger gold project some 150km away where some 1.2 million ounces of gold were mined up to 2018.
