Gold and critical minerals explorer Tambourah Metals has confirmed gold-bearing quartz veins at its Tambourah King prospect in the Pilbara after receiving early assay results from drilling completed in March. Results include one hole going 22m at 2.83 grams per tonne gold from 22m, containing 9m at 6.46 g/t from 35m and 1m at 9.86 g/t from 39m.
Gold and critical minerals explorer Tambourah Metals has confirmed gold-bearing quartz veins at its Tambourah King prospect in the Pilbara after receiving early assay results from drilling completed in March.
Results include one hole going 22m at 2.83 grams per tonne gold from 22m, containing 9m at 6.46 g/t from 35m and 1m at 9.86 g/t from 39m.
Although the full extent and geometry of Tambourah King is yet to be understood, the company says the mineralisation is open in all directions.
Previous drill campaigns at the prospect recorded results going 3m at 9.0 g/t and 1m at 26.3 g/t gold.
Tambourah Metals Executive Chairman, Rita Brooks said: “The assay results from the first 3 holes at the Tambourah King prospect have identified significant mineralisation along strike and under known gold workings and the drill results highlight that gold bearing quartz veins have been confirmed in previously undrilled locations.”
The March campaign completed 2527m of drilling and targeted the company’s Tambourah King, Western Chief, Western Chief south, Federal and Kushmattite prospects with the results from the remaining 20 holes expected within weeks.
Geological logging at the time showed mineralised zones are defined by increased quartz veining and increased carbonate in addition to silica alteration and elevated disseminated pyrite concentration.
The Kushmattie prospect has an historical strike from 1991 of 8m grading 13 grams per tonne gold within 10m going 10.6 g/t gold from 35m downhole. Drilling in 2019 yielded 3m running 1.3 g/t gold from 57m.
In April the company announced it had spotted what it believes could be lithium-bearing pegmatites at Nullagine.
The latest results come after the company’s announcement last week that it is expanding its base in the Pilbara including applying for five more prospecting licences at its newly identified Nullagine project.
The new ground brings the company’s total tenement package at Nullagine to 38 prospecting licence applications covering a total of 66.8 square kilometres about 5km north of the explorer’s existing Russian Jack lithium project.
The five additional licences incorporate the company’s Titanic south prospect that hosts six historic drill holes.
Tambourah says it intends to make this area a priority once tenure is granted whilst Minedex reports 270 historic gold mines near the Nullagine project.
The tenements have been pegged by wholly owned Tambourah subsidiary TMB-Nullagine and the ground’s potential for gold is a welcome boost to Tambourah’s existing gold-focused portfolio in the Pilbara region.
The company says there’s been no lithium-focused exploration in the area, however historical soil samples have reportedly indicated lithium up to 40 parts per million.
Historic drill results from the explorer’s Cheela gold project, about 50km west-north-west of Paraburdoo, have also identified new drill targets.
Planning for follow-up drilling at the site has been completed that will test beneath and along strike.
