Strickland Metals has begun a native title heritage survey to gain clearance for further exploration around multiple high-priority prospects within the company’s Yandal and Earaheedy projects near Wiluna in WA.
The survey will include Strickland’s recent Wanamaker discovery to the north of its Millrose project where the company has returned impressive results including 7m at 22.2 grams per tonne gold from 72m.
The latest drilling results from Wanamaker returned 5m going 14.5 g/t gold from 67m downhole whilst the initial discovery of the deposit came from assays reading 8m at 4 g/t from 104m and 7.9m at 7 g/t from 138.9m.
The new deposit shows the potential for a high-grade discovery north of the historical Millrose resource of 346,000 ounces of gold that is the cornerstone of the company’s broader 603,000-ounce Yandal gold project.
Several additional gold prospects identified along strike to the north of the Millrose project will also be included in the survey.
The company is also seeking heritage clearance to further explore two of its recent base metal discoveries at the Iroquois project and the Baxters prospect.
Last year Strickland announced an initial five-hole campaign returning thick mineralised intercepts including 23 metres at 5.5 per cent combined zinc and lead from 108m. The intercepts were about 20km along strike of Rumble Resources’ significant Earaheedy base metal discovery in April. The explorer continued the flow of intercepts earlier this year with a high-grading 3m hit going 7.6 per cent zinc from 65m.
The Malecite prospect – about 1.5km south-east of Iroquois – presents an attractive target for the explorer given rock chip sampling in the area returned peak results of 7.3 per cent lead, 0.5 per cent copper, 4.8 grams per tonne silver, 0.4 per cent zinc and 25 per cent manganese.
Baxters was recently unveiled sitting 16km south-west of Millrose after reprocessing of historical ground-based electromagnetic data highlighted a well-constrained conductor.
The conductor is currently modelled to a dimension of 375m long by 330m deep and coincides with a 500m long coherent copper-lead-zinc anomaly defined by a portable-XRF-based historical soil program. Samples of the outcropping gossan returned portable-XRF readings of 0.11 per cent copper, 0.1 per cent zinc, 130 parts per million lead and 0.11 per cent barium.
Strickland Metals Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Bray said: “The native title heritage survey, originally planned to commence at the start of the month, is now underway. The survey will focus on obtaining further clearances around the company’s very exciting Wanamaker discovery, which will allow for further resource definition drilling.”
Last week Strickland announced plans to demerge its non-core assets and deliver a standalone ASX base metals explorer. The proposed spin-out will see the company’s Iroquois zinc-lead and Bryah Basin assets packaged into a new wholly owned subsidiary that will seek to list on the ASX in the first quarter of 2023.
