Strickland Metals’ Iroquois discovery has returned high-grade zinc-lead with assays from recent RC drilling at Iroquois showing significant potential with results of 8m at 5.2 per cent zinc from 95m and 5m grading 10.1 per cent combined zinc-lead from 110m. The highest grade was contained in a broad zone giving 18m at 4.2 per cent combined zinc-lead.
Strickland explained that it was developing a stronger understanding of the mineralisation at Iroquois. The data confirmed previous observations of an upper zinc-only zone and a lower zinc-lead zone. Mineralisation is believed by the company to strike northeast and to be strongest in areas close to recently identified feeder zone structures.
Drilling to date has occurred only on the western side of a regional fault structure and the company expects the mineralisation to repeat on the eastern side.
Recent work was drilled 100m closer than previous holes to the structure announced by Strickland on 28 February. The zinc-lead assays were the highest received to date from drilling at Iroquois and the news bodes well for planned drill testing of the area and those adjacent.
Assays were also received from three additional RC drill holes located further away from the feeder zone structures and returned lower grades including 23m at 1.6 per cent zinc-lead from 26m within a broad zone coming in at 0.9 per cent zinc-lead.
Strickland’s tenements adjoin Rumble Resources Earaheedy Basin project and the company believes the Earaheedy Basin is shaping up as an exciting base metal province.
The company has approximately 30km strike length of the prospective zinc-lead zone and is enthusiastic about the potential for additional discoveries.
Chief Executive Officer of Strickland, Andrew Bray, said: “We are becoming increasingly optimistic about the potential for Iroquois and its surrounding areas to develop into a substantial base metal project.”
In further good news, soil results indicate the company has located a second possible feeder structure in a parallel setting 1.5km to the southeast. Extensive soil sampling programmes are being planned by Strickland for 2022 to locate more zinc-lead mineralisation. With 30km of untested strike who knows what is possible?
Extended soil sampling at Iroquois will be conducted to define the extent of the two feeder zone anomalies that are open along strike in both directions. Strickland is considering a ground based induced polarisation survey to assist with identification of metal sulphides for drill targeting.
The company stated that follow up drilling to the northeast of the current work will be a priority for the next RC programme at Iroquois that could commence as early as April, subject to heritage clearance.
Strickland’s Iroquois zinc-lead discovery in the Earaheedy Basin is 80 per cent owned by the company with the remaining 20 per cent under Gibb River Diamonds. The company says it has all the hallmark characteristics of a Mississippi Valley-Type zinc-lead deposit.
Strickland says it will have drilling rigs on the ground for the remainder of 2022 between the Iroquois discovery and its Yandal belt gold projects. The exploration will be timed in conjunction with heritage clearance and interpretation of soil and drilling results.
By identifying feeder zone structures Strickland appear to have cracked the secret to finding the best zinc-lead mineralisation at Iroquois. With grades up to 10.1 per cent zinc-lead it appears Iroquois provides possible game changing targets for the company. 30km of strike adjacent to Rumble Resources Chinook discovery gives plenty of upside for Strickland in its hunt for additional discoveries.
