ASX-listed Si6 Metals has defined a 2.5km-long geophysical anomaly coinciding with shallow historical drilled copper-silver mineralisation at its 60 per cent owned Dibete prospect in Botswana. The past drill hits included 38m at 1.72 per cent copper and 119.5 grams per tonne silver. Si6 Metals is looking to pin-point base and precious metal targets for drill-testing.
The induced polarisation, or “IP” survey at Dibete is said to have highlighted “strong target areas” along strike from known mineralisation.
Results from IP surveys at two other prospects are pending.
Si6 has been conducting geophysical surveys seeking to define deeper sulphide mineralisation at the Dibete, Airstrip and Maibele North prospects at its Maibele tenure in eastern Botswana.
The anomaly at Dibete comes on the back of results from an IP survey last year that detected numerous anomalous chargeability zones, according to management. Si6’s follow-up pole dipole IP survey has now defined two chargeability anomalies corresponding with the earlier gradient array IP results.
Intriguingly, the 2.5km southern anomaly lies beneath and along strike to past shallow copper-silver drill intercepts that also included 25m at 2.17 per cent copper and 77 g/t silver from 27m and 17m at 2.7 per cent copper and 40.5 g/t silver from just 16m.
Results are pending for geophysical surveys at Airstrip and an audio magnetotelluric survey at Maibele North.
Both prospects lie along a 16km mineralised trend about 4km from Dibete.
Si6 Executive Chairman Patrick Holywell said:“The Dibete IP surveys have illustrated strong target areas along strike of the known mineralisation and confirmed a 2.5km anomaly. Interpretation of surveys at the Airstrip and Maibele prospects are also nearing completion with results to be reported shortly. Planning for reverse circulation and diamond drilling will then take place.”
Maibele North already boasts a maiden 2.38 million tonne resource going at 0.72 per cent nickel, 0.21 per cent copper, 0.08 g/t platinum and 0.36 g/t palladium.
Management says the resource covers 800m of strike, with nickel sulphide mineralisation continuing for a further 475m to the north-east and 125m south-west. The deposit is also open at depth.
Along strike at nearby Airstrip historical drilling returned an impressive 8m hit at a head-turning 10.39 per cent copper and 630 g/t silver from 52m.
Other intercepts include 8m at 1.71 per cent copper and 51 g/t silver from 159m, together with 18m at 1.72 per cent copper and 27.5 g/t silver from 42m.
Si6 is already in discussions with in-country drilling companies as it looks to get rods turning at the prospects.
