Strickland Metals has received higher-than-expected assay results from recent diamond drilling at its Millrose gold project about 85km north-east of Wiluna in Western Australia.
The company says the results demonstrate significant grades and widths that suggest the project is part of a very large gold system.
Two assay results near the northern extension of Millrose North include one hole going 59m at 1.9 grams per tonne gold from 141m including 9m at 3.1 g/t from 141m.
A second hole recorded results going 57.1m at 1.3 g/t from 109.9m including 12m at 2.4 g/t from 127.4m.
Strickland says the grade appears to be increasing with depth. A previously reported intercept going 8.1m at 14.6 g/t from 216m was interpreted as just below the mineralisation zone of the latest results.
Results from drilling around the southern extension of Millrose North include one hole going 25.5m at 1.6 g/t from 125m and a second going 27m at 1.7g/t from 148m.
The holes are about 300m south from the most northern assay going 54m at 1.8 g/t from 130m including 23m at 2.4 g/t from 161m.
Strickland Metals Chief Executive Officer Andrew Bray said: “The continuity of both grade and width is particularly notable, as it continues to confirm our belief that Millrose is a part of very substantial gold system. Importantly, the mineralisation remains entirely open along strike and at depth. Visual observations from the drilling to date suggest the gold bearing structures remain intact to the north and south — areas which lie outside of the current resource area. Assays are expected from these areas over the coming month.”
Mineralisation at Millrose North is now defined over 300m and remains open at depth and along strike.
Strickland says the potential target zone is associated with a talc chlorite schist and silica-carbonate flooded mylonite, with the highest grades associated with brecciated units within the mylonite.
The company has secured a third drill rig that will focus on the northern and southern extensions of the Millrose mineralisation that forms part of its broader Yandal gold project.
The rig is expected to arrive next month.
Currently, the entire 346,000-ounce Millrose resource is spread out over a 2.5km strike length and the gold mineralisation appears to be associated with a banded iron formation.
Based on historic magnetic data, Strickland interprets the iron unit to extend for a combined strike of 13km.
The company says its backlog of assay results should be cleared by the end of the month.
