The program at Mt York is the culmination of Kairos’ exploration campaign spanning the past few months, with drilling also hitting the Tierra and Fuego gold targets within the company’s Croydon gold project. The company’s geophysical consultants have also been kept busy, running sub-audio magnetic, or “SAM” surveys across the Fuego, Tierra and Old Faithful prospects, identifying a raft of new targets through these prospective gold plays.
The Old Faithful drilling is set to be Kairos final program of 2020 and is targeting the high-grade extensions of the deposit and a range of geophysical anomalies highlighted by the recent SAM survey.

The company’s tenement holdings through the Pilbara Goldfields cover more than 1,500 square kilometres of the highly sought-after terrane. The region continues to attract a bevy of miners and explorers with Calidus Resources, Capricorn Metals and TSX-listed Novo Resources all developing gold mining operations across the emergent field.
Kairos’ Pilbara projects stretch along more than 200km of strike and are located 100km south of the regional hub at Port Headland. The project areas include the Lala Rookh, Kangan, Wodgina, Croydon and Skywell tenements, which are prospective for a range of styles of mineralisation including conglomerate, lode and shear-hosted gold.
The company’s ground also potentially hosts the in-vogue ‘intrusive-style’ gold mineralisation, the same type of deposit as De Grey Mining’s headline-grabbing Hemi gold discovery, which lies immediately to the west of the company’s project areas. Kairos’ work program has already identified several intrusive-style targets at Skywell and Kangan, with the recently identified Aqua prospect at Croydon also fitting into the coveted intrusive mould.
In the course of the 2020 season, Kairos’ has collected more than 2,000 samples across the Skywell tenure and a further 170 samples at Aqua-Croydon, as it zeroes in on a selection of these intrusive targets. Results of this geochemical sampling are assisting in the development of the company’s drilling programs in 2021, with extensive targets having already been identified at the Akari, Kepler and Omid prospects within the Skywell tenure.
However, the present focus of Kairos’ exploration is the drilling program at Old Faithful within the Mt York project. The deposit hosts a resource of 2 million tonnes at 1.37 g/t gold based on approximately 15,000 metres of reverse circulation and diamond drilling. The current 14-hole reverse circulation program is designed to test the high-grade extension to the deposit along strike and at depth.
The drilling is also designed to test four SAM and ground magnetic targets identified adjacent to and below the existing resource, which may result in incremental upgrades to the tonnage and grade of the ore system across the project.
Kairos will be looking to finish the year on a high and with geochemical sampling and drill samples due back from the labs soon, there may be time for a few surprises in the lead up to Christmas.
