Queensland-based and WA-focused explorer Infinity Mining has wasted little time getting boots on the ground for what promises to be a big year of drilling, opening its 2023 campaign in the Central Goldfields. On the look-out for gold, lithium and rare earths, Infinity has about 2000m of RC drilling planned for this year across several of its WA tenements.
Queensland-based and WA-focused explorer Infinity Mining has wasted little time getting boots on the ground for what promises to be a big year of drilling, opening its 2023 campaign on its Central Goldfields tenements.
Infinity has an impressive array of 19 licences including 10 exploration, seven prospecting and two mining to cover 711 square kilometres of terrain in the Pilbara and Goldfields.
On the look-out for gold, lithium and rare earths, the company has about 2000m of RC drilling planned across several of its Central Goldfields tenements and more to come in the Pilbara where a series of drill programs are being planned.
First cab off the rank is Infinity’s Coppermine project north-west of Leonora where a rig will test a target that Infinity defined mid-last year.
A drone survey revealed a 350m-long magnetic target beneath historical copper workings that Infinity reckons could be associated with buried volcanogenic massive sulphide-style copper mineralisation. The main part of the magnetic anomaly has not been drilled previously.
The company believes Coppermine is also prospective for Archaean shear-hosted gold systems, noting it is situated only 5km south-west of Red 5’s 4.12 million ounces King of the Hills gold mine – one of several sizeable deposits that neighbour Infinity’s tenements.
Infinity Mining CEO, Joe Groot said: “Infinity has big plans for 2023, including several rounds of drilling at its key gold and lithium projects in WA. We are very pleased to have started drilling at the Central Goldfields so early in the year. We look forward to releasing the results from this RC drilling program over the coming weeks.”
The campaign will also test Barlow’s Gully where three significant gold-geochemical anomalies, also defined last year, will be drilled.
The prospect north-west of King of the Hills has seen a rock chip sampling program and some air-core drilling in addition to reconnaissance geological mapping. Three of eight rock samples returned assays of more than 1 part per million gold, with the highest going 15.495ppm.
Drilling is also planned for the company’s Camel prospect, north-east of the Kailis, Harbour Lights and Sons of Gwalia deposits, to test a linear drone magnetic high target situated about 100m west of old gold mine workings. Infinity believes it may represent a sub-parallel gold-bearing structure.
A contractor has been engaged to complete the planned program in the Goldfields, with an expected completion time of approximately three to four weeks.
Additional RC holes have been designed at some of Infinity’s other prospects in the Central Goldfields, such as Craig’s Rest and Victor Bore. The company says it might extend its drilling program to include these targets, depending on initial results.
The company has previously focused a large amount of its exploration work on its Pilbara tenements, where its focus is on lithium.
Infinity plans to return to the Pilbara next month and more drilling is planned at its South Tambourah project during the winter months, together with other drill campaigns for the company’s other Pilbara tenements.
