Brightstar Resources has picked up a crucial piece of acreage that connects its south and north Cork Tree Well tenure, offering the company an unfettered opportunity to explore the area. The acquisition extends its second prospective exploration trend parallel to historic workings over unbroken ground. Curiously Brightstar picked up the connecting ground within the lucrative Laverton gold belt for just $10,000 cash.
The new license locks in acreage between Brighstar’s JORC compliant 237,000-ounce gold resource at Cork Tree Well.
The additional acreage may allow the company to increase its resource over the larger operational area offered by the new tenement. According to management, the new tenements overlay proven prospective units within the Laverton district within a structural corridor that feeds the Duketon district to the north. Geological analysis conducted by the company indicates the potential for the narrow neck between Laverton and Duketon to concentrate gold mineralisation within their prospective acreage.
Cork Tree Well tenement incorporates historical open mine workings that previously yielded approximately 46,000 ounces of gold at 2.3 grams per tonne. The historical workings include 2 open pits, three ponds and a carbon-in-pulp gold separation plant. Whilst mining at Cork Tree Well ceased in 1988, the facility continued to process satellite resources until 1994. During active operations, a camp and airstrip were maintained within the tenement. The current JORC compliant 237,000-ounce resource comes courtesy of 3.86 million tonnes at 1.9 g/t gold.
Brightstar Resources Managing Director, Bill Hobba said: “The continued prospectivity of Cork Tree Well as demonstrated by the successful RC program in 2021 has inspired the Company to invest further in the project area by the acquisition of highly prospective ground adjacent to our current tenure. This will provide the Company with increased exposure to high value new targets in the same area as our largest JORC Resource and the likely main focus in any potential mining scenario.”
Brightstar says the drilling program and sub-audio magnetic survey conducted in 2021indicate alternative targets with potential for mineralisation on multiple contacts within greenstones running through the tenements. The 2021 drilling program was completed with mineralisation open both at depth and down dip along strike to the north. Additional mineralisation was identified within parallel lodes.
Brightstar Resources holds three major project areas, Cork Tree Well, Alpha and Beta. The company also owns a 330,000 tonne per annum gold processing plant incorporating a modern 60-person camp within easy trucking distance of all of its project areas. All of these properties and facilities are located within operational range of Laverton, Western Australia, an active and fully-serviced regional mining hub easily accessible from the state capital of Perth.
