Si6 Metals has unlocked a flurry of new high quality untested anomalies through interpretation of recent audio frequency magnetotelluric or “AMT” survey data at its Maibele base metals project in Botswana. Si6 is utilising a variety of ground geophysical techniques designed to target deeper mineralisation that it plans to test with RC and diamond drilling once required approvals are in place.
The recently completed 10-line AMT survey targeted the Airstrip West prospect in addition to a series of other prospects within the Maibele base metals project area. The Maibele project area sits within the prospective Limpopo Mobile Belt in Botswana that hosts multiple major nickel and copper mines.
Recent AMT surveying also covered the company’s Maibele North prospect and interpretations from the area are currently underway.
AMT surveying was designed to cover the area coincident with a “gradient array” and “pole-dipole” induced polarization or “IP” response that sits to the west of Si6’s copper and silver bearing Airstrip prospect, within the Maibele project area.
Si6 says previous IP surveys point to a strong conductive anomalism close to surface however deeper geophysical probing was required prior to drill testing. The recent AMT survey provided an insight into the deeper-seated structures the company says look to be lining up well with the surface IP anomalism.
The AMT anomalies represent new and untested targets that Si6 say adds further upside potential to the Maibele base metals project.
Six of the 10 lines surveyed at Airstrip West gave up prospective deep-seated anomalous responses and according to Si6 all of them present priority drill targeting opportunities.
Once the pending survey interpretation work at Maibele North is complete, geophysical surveying efforts for the 2021 period will wrap up. Si6 says outstanding results have been achieved from the 2021 geophysical survey programs so far and drilling plans are well underway to test the suite of high-priority base metal targets.
Si6 has an advanced nickel, copper, cobalt and platinum group element resource at Maibele North in addition to a high-grade copper and silver deposit at the Airstrip and Dibete prospects within the Maibele project area.
Si6 Executive Chairman, Patrick Holywell said: “The results in from the Airstrip West prospect continue to demonstrate how useful and successful the AMT survey technique is at identifying targets for us to further explore. From the 10 lines surveyed at Airport West, of significant note include deep responses evident in lines 2-3, 6, and 8-10 which all present priority drill targets. Importantly, line 10 shows a prominent, south dipping anomaly that is possibly a further strike extension to the zones in Lines 8 and 9.”
With anomalies starting to line up across several different geophysical surveying techniques within a known nickel and copper belt, Si6 now has a the tiger by the tail as it looks to test the plethora of new targets into the new year.
