Assured Hospitality has given its 150 East Riverside Bar Restaurant a makeover. Gusto’s foodie spies reckon the restaurant is much warmer, featuring bright spaces with splashes of red set off by earthy toned decor. There are new booth tables, a new wine rack and groovy new lights. 150 East is located on Great Eastern Highway in Ascot.

Michelin star chef, Marcello Leoni, will be in Perth next week cooking up dishes with fellow Italian chefs, Andrea Solimeo and Daiki Horit, as well as ice cream maker Palmiro Bruschi at a special ‘Bella Italia’ festival at the Burswood Complex.

Mr Leoni will be cooking cuisines at Burswood’s (A)LURE restaurant, including a special dinner matched with Italian wines. A cooking class is planned for Wednesday September 12 at Burswood’s Sirocco Restaurant.

Gage Roads Brewing Co has launched a new speciality range, which will focus on delivering international beer flavours brewed locally to deliver fresh flavour to beer fans.

First in line is Gage Roads London Best, which is a smooth English ale the team at Gage Roads reckons has a light floral aroma with hints of caramel and toffee flavours. 

The Gage Roads London Best range will be available in bottle shops from September 17.

The recently released 2008 Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide also features a top 10 for each state in Australia. The guide’s food critics think the top 10 restaurants in WA are (in order) Star Anise, Eminem, Balthazar, Jackson’s Restaurant, The Loose Box, Fraser’s Restaurant,  Must Winebar, Duendé, Harvest and Lamont’s (East Perth).

Gala Restaurant’s Marianne Kempf and Hans Lang are gearing up for spring by adding a range of specialities to their menu, featuring asparagus picked and grown at Bickley in the Perth hills.

The new offering includes a terrine of white and green asparagus, asparagus risotto and duck foie gras, and smoked salmon and quark soufflé with white asparagus, apple sorbet and freshly grated horseradish.
