Allcom Communications, a WA-owned company, has been in two-way radio communications for around 40 years. Clients range from the largest mining and exploration companies to people requiring a single connector for his CB radio. All Year Gas & Air Conditioning is a partnership that began in 1993. Prominently located in Belmont the premises incorporates a showroom and service department. A wide range is offered including airconditioning, air purification systems, hot water systems and gas products. Clients include domestic clients, professional builders and many commercial developers. The quality of work ensures that clients return for service and additional installations if required.

Aquabiotics Pty Ltd

Aquabiotics, wholly owned and operated in Belmont, has developed a range of new products that offer efficient and cost effective solutions to bore stain and biofouling of bores, pumps and reticulation systems. In late 1999 managing director David Bennett became aware of the size and scope of the bacteria problem and lack of solutions. Boresaver Liquid has unique dispersion properties that allow a very low dose to be used with enormous impact. Aquabiotics was also recently selected as only one of only six national finalists in the Australian $50,000 Yellow Pages Business Ideas Program.

Belmont Amcal Chemist

Kerry Bromfield attributes the success of his pharmacy to very high customer service levels and good stock selection. Belmont Amcal Chemist has been established 24 years and provides a full dispensing facility, free professional advice and a delivery service. Another key strength includes the long-serving key staff members, some of which have been with the Kerry for over 20 years. Customer satisfaction is an important criteria with feedback and on-going Customer Surveys with many customers commenting on the caring attitude of the staff.

Belmont Auto Carpets

Established in 1996, proprietor Bill Sidebottom has taken Belmont Auto Carpets from strength to strength. He attributes the success of Belmont Auto Carpets to his approach to customers, widening the product range, providing a delivery service and supplying product samples which customers can take home. Belmont Auto Carpets provides auto and marine carpet, outdoor carpet, automotive insulation and have a fitting service for foam and rubber. Mr Sidebottom also contributes his time by assisting young people in the area as a mentor in the Operation Livewire program.

Belmont Fancy Dress Hire

Established in 1997, Belmont Fancy Dress Hire started out catering to children’s fancy dress but soon gave in to the demand for adult fancy dress hire. Manageress Lee-Anne Beck often works tirelessly at home sewing her latest creative masterpiece, still making time for raising a family. She gets very positive feedback from satisfied customers, many who have been recommended by previous clients. Her main response is that the service offered is friendly, helpful and most importantly – offered quality costumes at a price affordable to everyone.

Belvidere Quality Meats

Warren Hook and his team continue to go from strength to strength in the retail meat sales, supermarket pre-packed lines, remote area orders, local bulk orders and also offer numerous catering lines. During the 15 years that Warren and Jeannie Hook have been operating Belvidere Quality Meats, it has established service and quality trends that have set it apart from its competitors.With the family’s total commitment towards the business planning process, the results of which are reviewed every two months leading to the ongoing design and implementation of quality business management and best practice principles.


Roger Broinowski decided it was about time that the public fought back against crime and has single-handedly taken Camwatch from a concept to a national crime prevention initiative. Camwatch is described as a low-cost community-based program that relies on a mix of cameras and impact stickers, with cell phones for added personal safety. The main idea is to network your whole street with Camwatch stickers so that the suspicious people know that they are on camera. Mr Broinowski enthuses that the effect is instant and very noticeable. Camwatch has now launched a national lost and found Internet register.


While many retail outlets profess to be family run Crave – the Essentials in Belmont Forum shopping centre can claim to be a little more family-orientated than most. Identical twins Karen Carrier and Tracy Dow, together with Shaughan Dunne, Karen’s partner all work in the store. The concept of coffee/tea/chocolates and contemporary giftware is fairly challenging and with a combination of rigorous and proactive customer education and appropriate stock select, Crave has managed to consolidate a promising start into a reliable and steadily growing business.


Bernard O’Roukes established Edealism in 1998, which provides Internet, e-commerce solutions and multimedia services. Mr O’Rouke’s aim is to establish a new benchmark for web e-commerce and multimedia solutions in the industry. One of the many innovative ideas he uses is to export his services to the UK to capitalise on the exchange rate.

Fibre Packaging

Allan Miller established Fibre Packaging & Fyba Flower Power in March with the aim to sell environmentally friendly biodegradable and recyclable products for the food and beverage and horticultural industries.

Located in Belmont, the food packaging products are made from virgin fibre pulp from sugar cane, popular trees and also cereal starches. The horticultural products are made from recycled paper and cardboard with peat and fertilizer added which are planted directly into the ground with the seedlings and plants.

Forum House of Cards

Located in the Belmont Forum, Forum House of Cards taken over by Margo and David Combe in March 1999.

They have successfully changed the mix of product away from mainly novelties to more homeware and decorative gifts, as well as improving and expanding the Australian souvenirs section. A very successful customer bonus loyalty card was introduced in October 1999, associated with frequent greeting card purchases. Store employees are easy to spot sporting bright red tops with the Forum House of Cards logo emblazoned on the back together with name badges for easy customer identification

Gemini Introductions

Rosanna Heath established Belmont based Gemini Introductions in 1988 to provide a reputable and personalised introduction service for unattached ladies and gentlemen seeking a compatible partner or just wishing to make new friends. She prides herself on her matchmaking skills. With also organising dinner functions and social evenings for her members, she is certainly kept very busy with operating Gemini Introductions.

Harvey World Travel Belmont

The demand for travel bookings has grown considerably over the past 13 years from a staff of two to a staff of seven making it one of the largest suburban retail agencies in WA. Richard and Claire Arnold, the proprietors of Harvey World Travel Belmont are currently enjoying their 28th year in the travel industry. Hotbods Creatures Pty Ltd

Susy Griffiths of Belmont launched her first Hotbods Bear in April 1996, a re-heatable child’s comforter and companion. The response was overwhelming and as word of the product spread, in one year over 30,000 HotBods had been sold in Australia alone. The company now has a flourishing export business and has 28 employed as staff and contractors. Development of the company’s product range, which includes many novel designs, ensures that as well as being highly effective, the product processes an immediate a broad market appeal. HotBods Creatures has developed into a prominent TCF exporter and has developed the business into a turnover in excess of $1.7 million

Olympia Publishing Pty Ltd

Olympia Publishing Pty Ltd located in Belmont, produces diaries, calendars and other promotional projects that are designed specifically for the Australasian market. Olympia Publishing provides all necessary on-the-job training for its staff. Each staff member receives full induction and training. Olympia Publishing have taken the innovative step of developing two professional videos.

Marjorie Charleson, editor and publisher, took over Racing West magazine in July 1998 and has since expanded this racing industry magazine into a national publication titled

Racebreed Australia.

With more than 250,000 annual visitors to the both the Ascot and Belmont Park racecourses, RaceBreed has contributed to increased state and national interest in this very important industry.

Racebreed is supportive of many regional sporting events and was a recent sponsor of the Rose of York Race Day.

Marjory Charleson features heavily on various national radio programs and is instrumental in bringing focus, interest and attendance to the major sporting attraction located in Belmont.

Reading Cinemas Belmont

Reading Cinemas located in Belmont offers customers the most advanced cinema technology in Western Australia. Reading Cinemas have a variety of marketing strategies in place including the Telethon charity fundraiser, in which a weekend of advance screenings at reduced prices was offered.

When Dean Kow established Regency Limousines in October 1999, he was fulfilling a lifelong dream to become a premier leader in luxury ground transportation in Western Australia.

Customers can choose from a large range of vehicles, from the latest model executive sedans, fully equipped luxury limousines and high capacity people movers capable of handling up to 54 passengers.

Weddings or special events can be made a little more special with the provision of the butler service.

Regency Limousines are able to provide seminar/convention transfers as well as chauffeured airport “meet and greet” guaranteed to impress!


Dallas Trowbridge and Lynda Nottle established Squashworks located in Belmont in 1998. In July last year they took over the Carlisle Squash Centre, making Squashworks the only squash centre in WA actively operating two centres.

Both Dallas, Lynda and staff have participated in the Aussie Host Customer Service program going on to be awarded the status of a Gold Aussie Host Business.

Innovative customer service initiatives include a new “stretching station” where players can warm up correctly before playing and cool down after games and introducing playing partners – putting players who don’t have anyone to play squash with, in contact with other players.

Surf Gear Belmont

Surf Gear, located in Belmont Forum is owned and operated by 25yo Candy Stemp and 24-year-old Mark Piani. More than just a surf shop, the Surf Gear range also includes skate gear and accessories such as decks, trucks and a great range of clothing. The store carries all the major surf labels including Billabong, Mossimo, Rusty and skate labels such as SMP and Split.

Surf Gear already gearing up for the summer season with its summer range and are stocking up with bathers, bikinis, board shorts and t-shirts in anticipation of the summer rush.

Candy and Mark rate their three key strengths in quality stock, excellent service and great prices.


Superline located in Kewdale, produces plastic moulded products and specialises in fluorescent lighting and neon signage.

Established in 1953, Superline achieved status as a quality endorsed company in August 1997. Although the certification process took considerable management commitment and implementation, it served to strengthen Superline’s association with government departments.

Since obtaining quality certification Superline has established a stores department, improved staff involvement in quality control issues, reduced storage of obsolete stock and reduced waste reduction.

The Directors are committed to further improving the quality system and modifying the procedural content to incorporate Superline Neon and obtain future improvements in the system.
