Aldoro Resources has just tabled the assay results for a pair of diamond drill holes prospective for nickel and copper at its V1 prospect, part of the larger Narndee project about 90 kilometres from Mount Magnet in Western Australia. The company says the program has confirmed the presence of the en vogue minerals in both and it is now gearing up for further exploration following an ongoing geophysics survey.
According to the company, the notable wet chemistry results include a 1.5 metre hit with 0.87 per cent nickel from just over 150m in one hole and a 0.55m strike with 0.76 per cent nickel from 109.45m in another.
Results from the campaign highlighted the presence of anomalous copper and cobalt.
Aldoro also says it has wrapped up a Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic, or “VTEM” survey at the site. The system uses electrical currents to measure and depict a region's underlying geology.
The VTEM system has been used widely across the mining sector and has surveyed over two million line-kilometres unearthing a host of different mineral deposits in the process.
The survey was undertaken along the western boundary of the Narndee Igneous Complex at the Kiabye Greenstone Belt.
The belt is thought to represent a potential tributary or geological unit of the Narndee Igneous Complex. The company says the zone, that could host significant nickel and copper mineralisation, is a key exploration target.
As it waits on the results from the VTEM survey, Aldoro is running an additional geophysical survey on its VC1 target area along with two nearby zones.
According to the company, the survey is aimed at homing in on wide-scale, highly conductive and deeper metallic ore bodies that the VTEM technology would likely have had difficulty detecting.
Aldoro says any conductors found through the two surveys will be mapped and sampled using surface geochemistry. The targets will then be ranked in order of drilling priority.
Although it’s still early days for the two drillholes, Aldoro will be eager to move things along and carve out its own slice of the nickel-copper pie.
