Wayne describes himself as a Perth-boy, and a passable surfer. He is also a highly-credentialled leader in the Australian gold sector. He is a metallurgist, a mineral economist and an experienced company director with extensive project, operations and corporate development expertise - across precious and base metal companies spanning nearly three decades.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Extractive Metallurgy, a Graduate Diploma in Business, a Master of Science in Mineral Economics and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Wayne also chairs the Gold Industry Group – the peak body representing the sector in Australia.
Since his appointment as Westgold’s managing director in mid-2022, Wayne has led the team to deliver ten-fold growth in the company’s market valuation – from a $700M market cap, to a $7B, ASX200 company – and one of Australia’s leading gold producers with a clear roadmap to continue growing.
