John co-founded the JBWere philanthropic services team in 2001.
He researches trends in the for-purpose sector including:
- Impact – Australia, highlighting the practice and growth potential for Impact Investing
- The Cause Report, examining the evolving shape of the for-purpose sector
- The Support Report, focussing on the dramatic trends occurring in giving
- The Corporate Support Report, explaining the evolution of corporate giving and community investment
- The Bequest Report, analysing the effects of the intergenerational wealth transfer on families and the for-purpose sector
John has also compiled the annual list of Australia’s largest private givers for the AFR’s Philanthropy 50 since 2016 and Australia’s top 50 companies for community investment since 2019. He is a director for Liverty Housing and was on the board of Philanthropy Australia from 2016-2025.
