Carla Basden is an experienced energy leader with over 20 years in the energy and utilities sectors.
Carla is currently Head of Grid Regulatory Affairs & Business Development (ANZ) at Vestas, where she drives ANZ business growth through strong, strategic relationships with key market participants; transmission network service providers, customers, and regulatory agencies, while advancing grid regulatory priorities to shape market and policy outcomes and inform commercial strategy and investment decisions.
Her former experience includes Alinta and Western Power, where she held leadership roles across the organisation’s delivery, asset management, engineering, and commercial functions. Most recently, as Head of Major Customer Decarbonisation, Carla led the connection of significant pipeline of major customer and renewable energy projects, enabling the acceleration of large-scale decarbonisation and the connection of new renewable generation capacity in Western Australia.
Carla is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, committed to driving meaningful and lasting change across the energy sector. She demonstrates this through active mentorship and allyship, as well as her involvement with the Women in Energy (WIE) Committee in Perth, which seeks to champion the voice of women, strengthen retention, and support the progression of female leaders across the industry.
