Dampier Salt managing director Hubie van Dalsen is moving to Brisbane next month to be managing director mining and refining for Comalco.
Dampier Salt and Comalco both belong to the Rio Tinto group of companies, which Mr van Dalsen joined in 1989, at Palabora, South Africa.
There, he held a series of technical and operational positions, before relocating to Rio Tinto’s head office in London in 1994, to work in the business evaluation department.
In 1997 Hubie was appointed vice-president of finance at Rio Tinto’s Diavik Diamonds project in Canada, where he worked until his transfer to Dampier Salt in 2001.
Mr van Dalsen has a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pretoria, and a MSc in finance from the University of London (London Business School).
