Internet service provider iiNet's research and development division has announced its first overseas contract win, after entering a deal with New Zealand-based telco Orcon.
iiNet Labs said it had adapted its internet telephone and streaming entertainment device, Bob2, for the New Zealand Market, and it would be available to Orcon customers as the Orcon Genius from July 20.
iiNet Labs said it would tailor its other products for a New Zealand launch in coming weeks.
Chief executive Steve Harley said the iiNet Labs would continue to look for new export opportunities.
"Orcon are the first export contract for us and we look forward to exploring more opportunities of this kind," Mr Harley said.
:"The advantage we have as an ISP is that we know exactly what the product should do and how it should perform.
"We have been working with the team at Orcon to develop something that will work in both markets - from both a technology and product point of view.
"We're both really happy with the outcome."
iiNet's stock had gained 1.2 per cent at 1:48PM (WST) to trade at $2.49.
