iiNet ads haunt Irish-born actor

A COUPLE of months ago, the man pictured above would be familiar to his family and friends and that’d be it. But that was before a $5 million ad blitz from Perth-based internet service provider, iiNet. The Irish-born Perth actor, David Smyth, is now somewhat of a walking celebrity. His face has been plastered on billboards, bus ads and the telly. So it’s not surprising that, while he was in rehearsals recently for an upcoming Black Swan Theatre production, he was quickly recognised by some audience members. The Note has been told that one adoring fan shouted out "show us your doovalackey" as Mr Smyth took to the stage. Of course, show us your doovalackey is a reference to one of the iiNet commercials where Fin, played by Mr Smyth, tells us all that the ISP has "doovalackies" that make their internet network really good. Apparently Mr Smyth has also undergone some internal iiNet training, just in case anyone on the street has any doovalackey-related questions. (iiNet moves, see page 7).
