Recently-listed mobile telco venture, ZipTel, is set to announce a pre-paid sim card distribution agreement with international travel agency Trafalgar Tours.
The agreement is initially for six months, with Trafalgar to distribute more than 17,000 of Perth-based ZipTel's AussieSim cards from August 1.
The deal, which will be announced to market today, has a 12-month renewal option.
The sim cards will give Trafalgar Tours customers mobile roaming solutions, offering savings of up to 95 per cent on phone calls, text messages and data compared to the rates charged by Australian operators.
Trafalgar Tours offers guided holidays to more than 200 destinations worldwide, and is part of the Travel Corporation which has been operating internationally for more than 50 years in over 60 countries.
ZipTel co-founder Keaton Wallace said the agreement was strong validation of the AussieSim product.
"Importantly, we view this agreement as being a unique opportunity and key platform to accelerate the global commercial rollout of our AussieSim product," Mr Keaton said.
ZipTel listed on the Australian Securities Exchange near the beginning of the month through a backdoor listing of the shell of former minerals explorer Skywards.
The company has been selling its AussieSim cards for the last 18 months.
It is also gearing up to launch its ZipT smartphone app, which will allow users to access reduced rates for telephone calls.
ZipTel also recently signed a marketing agreement with Perth-based telecommunications entrepreneur Zhenya Tsvetnenko's Mpire media to promote the ZipT app worldwide.
